Al Bard joins CCI renewal team

Prof. Allen J. Bard at University of Texas at Austin is joining the CCI renewal team! Al will play a leading role in the investigation of photoelectrode/catalyst interfaces and semiconductor grain boundaries. Al will study electrocatalyst/photoelectrode interactions by electrochemical methods such as scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM), kinetics measurements, and surface science techniques. SECM methods permit high-throughput analysis of these interfaces. This screening technique has already been used to effectively assess the activity of electrocatalysts both alone and on photoelectrode supports. SECM can also be used to measure the rates of hydrogen and oxygen formation from electrocatalyst-photoelectrode systems. As materials of interest are identified by SECM, larger bulk films can be synthesized and characterized.
