Wes Sattler Joins CCI Solar

Wesley (“Wes”) Sattler was born in New York City, New York and grew up in Ardsley, New York. He attended Binghamton University, a State University of New York, where he studied inorganic chemistry with Professor Wayne E. Jones, Jr., and developed his interest in synthetic inorganic chemistry. After graduating summa cum laude from Binghamton University in 2007, he pursued his doctorate degree at Columbia University under the direction of Professor Gerard (“Ged”) Parkin. His research with Ged concentrated in the areas of synthetic and structural inorganic chemistry, studying a range of subjects beginning with the structural and spectroscopic properties of a series of organomercurial compounds. Towards the end of his graduate studies, his research focused on a series of zinc complexes as synthetic analogues for carbonic anhydrase and as catalysts for H2 production and CO2 functionalization. Upon graduating from Columbia University in 2012 with his PhD in chemistry, Wes received the Hammett Award. He then moved across the country to Pasadena, California, where he is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow under the direction of Professor Harry B. Gray and Dr. Jay R. Winkler.
