Brendon McNicholas joins CCI

Brendon McNicholas received his B.S. in chemistry from UC Berkeley in 2014 where he studied the electrocatalytic reduction of dioxygen by transition metal corroles in non-aqueous electrolytes.

Brendon now is a 3rd year graduate student in the research groups of Harry Gray and Bob Grubbs.

Brendon's current research focuses on molecular and nano particulate electrocatalysts synthesized by pulsed laser ablation in organic solvents for selective CO2 reduction.

Other projects include the synthesis of Lewis acid functionalized redox couples for high-performance redox flow batteries and the mechanism of CO2 reduction by pre-activated NHC-carboxylates and nickel cyclam.
